October 21-25, 2018 "What's happenin' this week?"

The week before a book fair is always exciting and busy. There's furniture to rearrange, decorations to be made and hung, and LOTS of questions. The joy we find in all this work comes from the smiles we see when the books are here. There's just something magical about new books that make people happy.

Some highlights from this past week:

• Best student quote (while cutting/gluing/painting his cardboard skill game for the book fair): "This is better than recess!"

• The book fair cases arrived Tuesday morning. Mrs. Anderson, our awesome library assistant, helped me organize the cases, clean up the clutter, helped design and cover the entrance structure with paper, and cut/hang each of those beautiful paper snowflakes.

• Student helpers continued to draw, paint, build, and collate book fair materials.

• Classes got to preview some of the books and view the highlights video from Scholastic.

• During Specials library class, students received assistance with Accelerated Reader, previewed the book fair, viewed the Scholastic book fair highlights video, and had time to work on their individual projects.

• "Loco Moco the band" continued to practice songs and fill the library with music during recess and lunch.

Here are a few more great project ideas in the works:
