Lots of happy children. Exhausted adults, but lots of happy children. :)
The week started with a special presentation by New York Times Best Selling Author, Brandon Mull. He encouraged everyone in attendance to (1) Read a lot. And (2) make cool things with your imagination. It was a perfect message for our older students in grades 3-6 to hear, as they are constantly being pulled and distracted by the sheer amount of information, sound, and content on their digital devices, 24/7. It's exhausting. We are made to wonder and marvel at the world we live in. But we have to take the time to stop and unplug and OBSERVE places and people. Mahalo, Mr. Mull, for keeping a special place in your tour for Kailua Elementary School.
November 4, 2019 Sometime around the release of Fablehaven Book 1!
Book Fair Summary. I'd say it was a success. More happy, happy readers young and older.

Friends of Kailua Public Library Poster Art Contest winners!
- MAHALO to all who voted for the top three posters that best met the poster contest requirements: completely hand drawn, no digital assistance, and a clear message of enticing viewers to read the book. Each winning student will receive a certificate, $25 cash prize, and be entered into the inter-school contest. Congratulations Kristopher Caires, Cerenity Chang, and Ryann Fechner!
Fun Fair! I was having so much fun with playing music and listening to the wonderful student talent that I forgot to take photos. If anyone has photos of Mr. Tanaka, please send them to me!
Library lessons: Grades 3-6 continued to make some progress on their projects, and continued to find books they enjoy that fulfill their Accelerated Reader goals. Grade 2 made some progress on their class PBL by learning to write a cinquain poem.
