Keeping a weekly blog is tough!

Updated: Dec 17, 2019

My intention was to do a weekly recap of the cool things happening in the library and a sneak peek at what’s coming up. Turns out that is a tall Order when time is limited.

Here’s what’s going on:

Grade 6 cleaned out and filled the pond that will become the new home for their Fun Fair guppy farm.

Grade 5 began weeding and tilling the ground for their 3 Sisters garden. They also started their introductory study into West African percussion to get ready for Michael Wall’s music residency with a Artists in the Schools in January.

Grade 4 planted their baby kalo plants and took initial measurements of the first leaves.

Grade 3 began exploration of Britannica Online encyclopedia as a research tool. They also started their introductory study into West African percussion to get ready for Michael Wall’s music residency with a Artists in the Schools in January.

Grade 2 continued to work on their monk seal art and research to share with other international students via I-Earn online global exchange.

Grade 1 and Grade K continue to enjoy stories connected to their classroom curriculum: winter season, winter celebrations (including Mr Tanaka’s marathon experience).

Preschool enjoyed stories connected to their classroom curriculum about gratitude and trees.

The library also partnered with Mr Lopes in preparation for the Winter Concert.

A “creative club” began meeting on Thursdays at lunch to make greeting cards for our international card exchange partners in Russia, Slovenia, and the continental US. The cards are in production and hope to be mailed this week.

And finally, the library will be recognizing those students who met their Quarter 2 Accelerated Reader point goal at the assembly on Wednesday.

Whew!

Photos of all this will be coming during the winter break, when I have more time to be thoughtful and thorough.

Have a great week!

Mr. Tanaka
